We’ve all been there. You’re in a game of Fortnite, and you don’t know what to do. Your squad is doing just fine- but without you, they could be struggling! Luckily for you, we have some tips on how to get better at Fortnite.
Stop changing your key binds
Changing your keybinds is a great way to get better. But you may not realize: this isn’t about getting the best keyboard layout for Fortnite, it’s about how well can you play during the heat of battle when every second counts. You’re going to need to be able to use all keys on your keyboard quickly and precisely- so don’t make things harder than they have to be! Changing your settings now will only slow down that process in the future.
Find time to read about Fortnite and learn the strategies rather than actually playing for a while.
Make sure to take a break. Fortnite is an intense game and it can be hard to stop playing in order to do other things, but you need time to rest your eyes and give your hands the chance to recover from active gameplay. Reading about Fortnite online can be a great way to learn about strategies and what the game is all about.
Watching and analyzing your replays as well as watching pro player streams or YouTube videos can help improve your skill. You should get the hang of these guides by watching them with the intent to learn – so don’t watch them for entertainment.
Pause the video when you come across a moment that requires decision-making. Try to imagine what you would do in that situation and compare it with how the game unfolds. This is an excellent exercise for prepping your brain before getting into the game.
Watching experts play Fortnite can help you increase your skills. This is a good way to improve your understanding of the game without racing against a timer.

Take it slow.
It’s easy to get frustrated with your progress, but it can take a while before you’re ready for the pro scene. There is no shame in taking things slow and practicing some more!
One of the major keys towards improving at Fortnite is having patience so that you don’t become too frustrated when learning new skills or trying out different strategies. These tips should help make getting better feel a bit easier- just remember: practice makes perfect!
To improve your Fortnite skills, practice building and aiming.
Practice with a friend and see who can kill the most people. This is also great for communication skills as it forces you to talk more about what you are doing, why, and how they should do something different
You can practice building by going into one of the training zones found around Fortnite’s map. Pick up some materials from inside your base or in an abandoned house – then build anything! You don’t have to worry about making it look pretty- just make sure that there aren’t any gaps where enemies could come out. After this exercise, take note of which pieces were used, so that when playing multiplayer mode again later on you’ll know what structure to start off with and use less time gathering resources.
Fortnite may seem simple at first glance, but it is a high-level combat game that requires skill. While most shooter games can be won simply by aiming and holding your ground, Fortnite requires a bit more finesse.
One of the most challenging parts when you first play Fortnite is getting used to building. Fortnite is a competitive game that requires skilled building to get ahead. If you are looking to rank up, mastering this will only help expedite the process.
If you’re just starting out, however, odds are you’re going to find yourself back on the main menu. The first step to getting better at Fortnite is not giving up and thinking about the fun parts of the game when you’re discouraged.
Consider dropping in hot locations twice to
“Hot dropping” refers to jumping into a game in the most crowded parts of Fortnite. Take the center of the map, for instance.
Early in the game, finding the first shotgun can be a rush. But Murphy’s law states that someone else will most likely grab it before you do. Using a hot drop will significantly decrease the total time you spend on a match.
The longer amount of time spent in a match, the more skill you will be able to use. You will have easier access to looting and less interference in the actual fights if you drop into a less crowded area early on. Even in areas that are crowded, you can find a competition with guns sooner.
Get more building materials and healing items
There are several areas in the game where you can find materials to build and heal. As you progress, these resources will become more scarce. One of the easiest ways to get your hands on building materials is by visiting a brick factory in Tilted Towers or at Dusty Divot near Snobby Shores.
You can also find the materials at Paradise Palms, Wailing Woods, and Junk Junction. These are just some of the locations you can visit to get more building items without particularly having to do any fighting. If these areas don’t have enough resources for your current needs, consider using a hot drop near the area that does offer them.
If you need healing while playing solo mode, grab a chest or two before heading into combat – this will provide you with adequate time in-between fights if necessary. You should always keep an eye on how much health you have left so as not to give away your position when someone else could take advantage of it instead! Once again, make sure to use a hot drop near chests with healing items, as you will be able to loot them much faster than if they were in a far-off location.
Never stop having fun
When you’re playing Fortnite, don’t forget to have fun! You can do this by exploring the map and finding new locations. This is a great way to find chests that are filled with loot or even just a place where you know enemies will never go. There’s always something exciting waiting for players who take time out of their matches in order to explore – it could be as simple as discovering a building item location they weren’t aware existed before then proceeding to use it during combat, shooting them up into an advantageous position over the enemy player.
